Huntington's disease clinical trials

Advancing research into Huntington’s disease
and how it affects movement, thinking and daily life

Supporting Huntington's disease research

If Huntington’s disease runs in your family, or you’re living with it yourself, you’ll know how much it can affect day-to-day life, for you and for the people around you. Research helps us understand the disease better and advances new approaches to managing symptoms and slowing its effects.

We run Huntington’s disease clinical trials at our UK clinics in Glasgow and Warrington. Get in touch and we’ll talk you through what’s involved, including trials for people already diagnosed and for people who carry the gene but haven’t developed symptoms yet.

There’s no pressure to decide. Ask as many questions as you need and bring family into the conversation if that helps.

What is Huntington's disease?

Huntington’s disease is an inherited condition that affects the brain over time. It’s passed down through families, and if you have a parent with Huntington’s disease, it’s worth talking to a genetic counsellor or your GP about what that could mean for you.

Common signs may include:

  • Involuntary movements (chorea)
  • Difficulty with coordination and balance
  • Trouble concentrating or making decisions
  • Changes in mood, like irritability or low mood
  • Changes in memory and thinking

Everyone is different, and symptoms can appear at different ages. If you’re concerned, or if Huntington’s disease runs in your family, it’s worth getting checked, and you may be eligible to take part in a Huntington’s disease UK clinical trial.
